Diabetes Nurse Educator 24 – 40 Hours,
Must be Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Maine; Certification in Diabetes Education preferred; must have strong interest in teaching and diabetes management; must attend diabetes education and new instructor training if needed; candidate to provide assistance with individuals and group; assessment skills required; will work collaboratively with diabetes site coordinator; must work with registered dieticians and be a part of the diabetes advisory team; will maintain continuing education credits for ADA recognition, have excellent customer service skills with both internal and external customers, be highly organized and possess strong attention to detail in documentation.

| Description | Managers of Clinical Services are responsible for coordinating and conducting training for patients according to ADA and AADE guidelines for Certified Diabetes Educators. This includes technical use of the insulin pump, proper use of blood glucose monitoring equipment, carbohydrate counting instruction and other education associated with insulin pump therapy. In general, management of patient blood glucose levels in conjunction with using the insulin pump will be accomplished under physician order. This position maintains communications with patients, physicians and health care professionals and maintains CPT clinical and biographical information and professional licensure. |
| Requirements | Qualified candidates must possess an RN, RD or CDE Certification and have 1 year experience with insulin pump training, ability to exercise judgment, a willingness to travel overnight, the ability to develop educational presentations and be PC literate. |
